The truth that changed my life

God will always reveal Himself to the hungry heart. I experienced this myself on the 11th of March 2004. For a while before this (at that stage being in a legalistic denomination) I felt like my Christian life was filled with half-truths and many contradictions. I prayed that God would break down the lopsided building and start rebuilding the foundation from scratch. He did not hesitate to answer my hunger and prayer with an amazing revelation on His character and truth through a ministry in Potchefstroom – Immanuel Bedieninge.

Some of the truths that became the core of my Christian foundation after that introductory night include the following:

Today I just realized again how precious this truth is, and how once we have experienced it, we should protect it and appreciate it. It truly has the power to change your life.

A first revelation

I received my first ‘living’ word in 1999 – a verse I read which truly stood out and spoke to my heart.  I cherish this verse, and find it wonderful that God chose to reveal His character first and foremost.  I did not hear a message of condemnation or judgement, nor one of works or service.  It was a message of reconciliation – spoken so kindly that my heart melted.

“The Lord appeared from of old to me saying, Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn you and continued My faithfulness to you.” Jer 31:3

In this verse He showed me His never-ending love – it is infinite and boundless.  There is nothing I can do to stop this love, I cannot mess it up or cause Him to change His mind.  This love is not dependent on holy living or works achieved – it moves through all boundaries and overcomes everything.

“For I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers, Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Rom 8:38 – 39

It is this love that will lead the world to repentance – the revelation of God’s character (Rom 2:4).

Knowing truth vs knowing The Truth

Lots of people consider the quest after truth to be a noble quest.  However – no matter what revelation you find, what mysteries you uncover – nothing compares to Truth the person, Jesus Christ.   Every answer can be found in Him.  He is the only wisdom you need to seek, the only vision you need to have.  Everything exists in Him and for Him (Col 1:16), and all that remains for us is to know Him.

“Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life;” John 14:6

This simplifies my life considerably.  I can have a singular vision, one Person to look at and to love.
